Message from the Pastor

I would like to welcome all visitors to this web site of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church. The parish has for it’s boundaries from Western side of Number Six road in Richmond to the Eastern end of Lulu Island; as we begin this new era (cyber space) in the life of the parish, there is a tremendous amount of excitement of joining with other Catholic parishes in presenting their respective web pages.

Another reason why I am so pleased that we have this web page is because; it enables many people in our global village to view our parish from their homes! I would hope that they would find this source of communication meaningful as well as useful, like us.

Before, I continue I must state that I am extremely happy to be able to serve the parish community at this particular time in its history. With the new growth that is happening within this region our parish demographics are changing, it has a “rebirth” so to speak. One of the healthiest signs is the number of young families moving into the parish community, the joy that their children bring is never endless. Their chatter, their smile makes the heart thankful and hopeful for the future of our parish community and the Church.

With the Port Royal development in its first stages of completion, and once it is completed we will see increase of almost five thousand people in the area! I have already been down to the site to give it my “ pastoral approval” and bless a couple of homes! The first residents will be moving in by the end of July.

The annual Financial and Spiritual reports have been completed and sent to the Archbishop’s Office. I was pleased to be able to inform His Grace of this growth in the parish. Presently, we have almost three hundred families registered. Last year we had three marriages in the parish church. We received into the parish six children through the Sacrament of Baptism. Nine students in our Parish Religious Education Program received the Sacrament of Confirmation and nine children received the Holy Eucharist for first time. Sadly, we had six funerals. Financially, the parish continues to struggle with just trying to meet its commitments.

As we continue to add to the web page I would hope that we would be able include some photos of the parish both past and future.

Since “our” arrival the dog and I. I know that GT enjoys the opportunity to sniff things out in the parish garden, as I potter around in it; she has encountered her first skunk as well as a family of raccoons! She also enjoys her Saturday visits to the choir practise so far she has not joined the Sunday liturgy yet!

Thank you for your prayerful support to myself.  Continue to pray for our parish .May God our heavenly Father Bless you and Our Blessed Mother cover us with her mantle of grace.
